The use of SmartCards as authentication devices is on the rise in office buildings, high-security rooms, libraries etc. With its built-in SmartCard reader, the Simputer is a natural platform for such applications.
PicoPeta's Office Administration application allows users to identify themselves by simply inserting their SmartCards into a Simputer. The SmartCard reader reads identification details from the card, and either allows or forbids entry into the system (say, an office). The entry/exit times are logged into the database resident on the Simputer, and can be synchronized with a PC for record and further analysis.
Simputers allow SmartCards to be easily extended to function as say, ATM cards for mobile banks.
